A different way to look at it
You were told it's cultural heritage.
It's a platform that's changed hands repeatedly with no clear business model, and your archive is sitting on top of it.
Let's be honest about it
Whose ground is your archive resting on
On Tumblr
Ground with no clear future
Changed hands repeatedly, no clear direction
Multiple ownership changes, years of losses, no clear direction — the future is unclear.
Weak monetization tools
Try to make money on it and the tools fall short.
Even a backup needs rebuilding
You can back it up, but turning that into a real site with your own domain still takes rework and tools.
